Women are more likely to start up a small business than men.

Susan Diffenderfer loves to shop and decorate so she decided to do it professionally.

"It was a natural progression to be in contact with the community, be able to shop, hopefully, make a little money while I do it and here we are 10 years later," she said.

Her store "Sticks and Stones" features gifts for the home.

Financial experts say its small businesses like Diffenderfers that are opening at a faster pace than Male owned stores.

Diffenderfer says women like herself are impacting the local economy.

Employing people that are part of the community, we're giving back to our community on a regular basis.

Diffenderfer contributes her success to loyal customers.

And hopes more people will help other small businesses to be successful.

in this day in age, it doesn’t matter if a business is owned by a man or woman. The biggest obstacle could be online shopping.
