Mini and small cars among the deadliest finds IIHS
PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS 12) —
Mini and small cars top the list of deadliest in driver death rates per a new report by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Institute.
At the very top were cars like the Hyundai Accent, Kia Rio, and Chevrolet Spark.
“Among the 10 vehicles with the highest rates, five are mini cars and three are small cars,” says the report. “These vehicles don't protect occupants as well as larger ones, so their presence at the top of the "worst" list isn't surprising.”
The models considered were from 2011 through 2015.
On the flip side, larger cars were among the safest. Topping the safest were large luxury cars and SUVs like the Audi Q7 and the BMW 535xi.
