Tropical Storm Ophelia strengthening in the Atlantic
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
Tropical Storm Ophelia, the 15th named storm of the season, formed in the Atlantic Monday and is continuing to gain strength, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.
Ophelia currently has maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and is about 845 miles west-southwest of the Azores.
As of 5 p.m., the storm was moving northeastward at 3 mph, the NHC said. The storm is predicted to strengthen even more in the next 48 hours.
Fortunately, the system poses no threat to land based on the currently forecast track.
