‘Let’s Move’ a success with 32 million minutes logged
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
This year's ‘Let's Move Commit to Physical Activity Challenge’ is celebrating a huge victory.
Nearly 200 teams logged more than 32 million minutes.
Vanessa Moss and Marge Sullivan with Palm Healthcare Foundation say they doubled the number of teams participating.
Teams logged 32 million minutes compared to last year’s 7 million minutes.
Village of Wellington came in first, Delray Beach was a close second, followed by Boynton Beach, Jupiter and West Palm Beach.
The School District got involved in a bigger way than previous years.
Of the schools that logged minutes, there were four high school teams that were Gold Medal Champions, each logging more than a million minutes. Teams planned events like walk-a-thons, group kickball games, field days, boot camps and incorporated healthy snacks in waiting rooms.
CBS12 partnered with Palm Healthcare Foundation for our Lets Move commit to change physical activity challenge.
During the month of March, the ‘Let’s Move’ challenge asked community members to commit to 30 minutes of exercise a day and then log their minutes.
