What's Lincoln Thinkin' - Savor the Tiger Memories
Tiger Woods announced late Friday, that he's not going to play the Masters next week.
And we have now gotten to the point, that Tiger announcing he's NOT going to play in a tournament.. is not news at all.
20 years ago this week, Woods changed the game of golf.
He introduced himself to the world, on golf's biggest stage - at just 21 years old, Woods won the Masters by 12 strokes, breaking the record of the biggest victory in tournament history. He became the youngest player to don a green jacket. And he became the first non-white player to win the Masters.
It's one of those indelible sports memories.
And now it seems Tiger Woods's golfing career is only memories.
Tiger announced he will not play the Masters next week, waiting until almost the last moment to make it official.
But it's certainly not surprising.
Woods said he's just not ready, after withdrawing from the Dubai Desert Classic in February with back spasms.
His back kept him out of golf for 15 months and let him play just three rounds this season before forcing him away from the game again.
Instead of hoping one day he'll be back to compete again, it's time to face the harsh reality that the opposite will be the real breaking news..
And those of us who love to watch Tiger play, will just have to rely on our memories.
