What's Lincoln Thinkin': No jobs left for Lane
Lane Kiffin looks like he's going to be more than a one and done at Florida Atlantic.
A number of high profile jobs have opened and been filled, leaving one final option for Kiffin - staying in Boca Raton.
Kiffin has brought excitement, national headlines, and most importantly wins in his first season at FAU.
Kiffin said at his opening press conference, and throughout the season, that he is planning on leading the Owls for a long time.
But as coaching vacancies began to spring up across the country, fans and some pundits started citing Kiffin as an attractive candidate.
Remember the rock in Knoxville? Thursday, Tennessee hired Alabama assistant Jeremy Pruitt as their new head coach.
One state over, Arkansas named SMU head coach Chad Morris as their new head man.
After losing Willie Taggart, Oregon's search is reportedly moving on without Kiffin's involvement.
And that leaves.. basically nothing. There are no other Power 5 jobs left.
Whether the 20 schools that had openings were not interested in Kiffin, or Kiffin was not interested in them, we don't exactly know.
While it still remains unlikely that Kiffin will be in Boca for a "long" time, it does seem very likely he will be for Year Two.
And after a year like this one, Owls fans should feel lucky to at least have that.
