McCarron returns to look ahead to Boca Raton Championship
BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) —
For 11 years, the Allianz Championship in Boca Raton was one of the most popular events in the PGA Tour Champions. The renamed Boca Raton Championship faces an uncertain future, but there will be at least one more big party at the Old Course at Broken Sound.
33 days away from this year's event, reigning champion Scott McCarron was back in Boca Wednesday to talk about his big win last year, which came with an eagle on the final hole. The city of Boca Raton ponied up for the price tag for naming rights, after the contract with Allianz ran out. That has allowed one of the most popular events on the PGA Tour Champions to survive in South Florida for at least one more season.
The tournament did add Sallyport as a presenting sponsor, which will also sponsor a military outpost for all active military and veterans to get in free.
