Masters champion Garcia commits to Honda Classic
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) —
If you see a Masters green jacket in person, it's either a fake, or it's being worn by the reigning champion. Tradition dictates that the green jackets stay at the Augusta National Golf Club, except the reigning Masters champion gets to bring his home for the year.
So maybe Sergio Garcia will be bringing it to Palm Beach County in a few weeks, because Wednesday he committed to play in the Honda Classic. The 11th-ranked player in the world won his first major last April, and went on to become the European Golfer of the Year in 2017. He finished second to Adam Scott at the Honda Classic two years ago. Garcia becomes the 7th player in the top 20 in the world to announce he's coming to PGA National.
The Honda Classic tees off the week of February 19th-26th.
