Honda Classic crushes record for charitable giving to South Florida kids
PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (CBS12) —
The Honda Classic is more than just the destination for a PGA Tour event, but as part of their Honda Classic Care initiative they have announced Monday afternoon that they will award a record-shattering $4.55 million dollars to South Florida children charities.
Beginning on June 11, the Children’s Healthcare Charity, the host organization of The Honda Classic, will make distributions during a week-long series of Honda Classic Cares sites around the Palm Beach County area.
The $4.55 million dollars is 25% more than the $3.63 million that was distributed in 2017.
“We continue to raise the bar and challenge the imagination on the impact we can make on the Palm Beach County community,” Honda Classic Executive Director Kenneth R. Kennerly said in a release.
More than 50,000 children and their families who are affiliated with 137 charitable organizations will benefit from the proceeds of the Honda Classic Cares Week.
“The Honda Classic Cares Week gives us an opportunity to take a step back and visit our grant recipients and touch the powerful impact that we are making the lives of children in the local community.”
