Former PGA Tour star Ken Green tees it up to help relieve pain
Lake Worth (CBS12) —
Nobody was taking golf for their health for granted at the Falls Club in Lake Worth on Sunday. The 6th Annual Charity Golf Tournament for the Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants was raising money for the World Institute of Pain. Dr. Ira Fox, founder of the Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants, was playing with 5-time PGA Tour winner and former Ryder Cup player Ken Green, who lost his leg in an RV accident, but continues to enjoy golf thanks to guys like Dr. Fox.
"I wasn't going to let pain stop me from doing what (I love), says Green. "I love golf. I'm like (Arnold) Palmer, I will play until I physically can't play."
"He's very inspiring," says Fox of Green. "In my practice we saw our 75-thousandth new patients this year. That's what keeps me going as a physician, is talking to patience and realizing how we can change their lives."
The money raised will help send top physicians to remote areas of the world to relieve chronic pain, without drug dependency.
