West Boca Medical Center celebrates Opening Day
BOCA RATON, Fla. (CBS12) —
The Opening Day of baseball might be next week, but it was Opening Day at the West Boca Medical Center Friday. The staff was encouraged to wear their favorite baseball gear, and they passed along peanuts and Cracker Jacks to the patients. Also the patients shared baseball themed goodies for lunch - including hot dogs, hamburgers and baseball shaped cookies.
Certainly the staff had a good time with it, but the real goal was to some smiles to patients' faces.
"We just want to make people feel happy," says West Boca Raton Medical Center COO Ryan Lee. "People love baseball, and it's a great way for us to bring it in, and make patients feel like they are not in the hospital."
The hospital also auctioned off Marlins tickets for the patients.
