Top high school golfers get college-ready at First Tee
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
Two dozen of the best high school golfers in the nation are getting a crash course this week in what it takes to be a collegiate golfer.
Twenty-Four First Tee members from all across the country were invited to Palm Beach, for the program's national collegiate academy. The golfers play a tournament in the morning, have a physical workout in the early afternoon, then hit the range in the late afternoon, before wrapping up with a team dinner. This is a First Tee event not for golfing beginners - it's for the best of the best, who want to make their future in golf.
Rising Benjamin School senior Brendan Doner is the one local player participating in the program.
Of the 24 golfers, many of them will be pursuing college golf, with a handful being offered D1 scholarships.
