Tebow to start for Mets Wednesday in Port St. Lucie
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) —
Tim Tebow is going to get his chance against the big boys..
The fan favorite in Port St. Lucie is slated to start for the Mets on Wednesday.
Tebow has been working out with the minor leaguers this spring, and Monday manager Terry Collins said Tebow will be the designated hitter Wednesday against the Red Sox. He added that Tebow may play Friday as well, possible in the field.
Collins said Tebow probably won't make the team but quote, "he's a pretty famous guy, it will be fun to get him out there."
The former NFL and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback started trying to be a professional baseball player last fall. He has drawn a huge fan base in Port St. Lucie as fans have flocked to see the former Gator play.
