Palm Beach Breakers looking to prove power of South Florida Hockey
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
There are many places in the world easier to play hockey, then south florida.
But for a driven, talented, and well-coached group of 18-year-olds, they are out to prove that the best young hockey players can come from the Sunshine State.
The Palm Beach Breakers, based out of the Palm Beach Ice Works in West Palm Beach, won the 18 and under State Championships last month, and next week, they're headed to the national championships in East Lansing, Michigan.
Coached by former professional hockey player Ryan Sittler, the Breakers and owner Lori Alf have faced plenty of challenges to get to this point, but this group of players have been playing together for years, and that's why they believe they can shock the youth hockey world in Michigan.
The Breakers hit the road on Wednesday.
