Very few have done more to raise money and awareness for breast cancer in our area than LPGA star and Boca Raton native Morgan Pressel. Her 11th annual Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Golf Tournament at St. Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton was a huge success on Monday, raising over a million dollars. But one particular friend on Pressel appreciated it more than ever this year.

"A lot of people say it was my best year, and it probably was on the course," says LPGA star Lexi Thompson. "But it was probably the most I've ever cried in one year."

Boca Raton resident Lexi Thompson's sucess on the course in 2017 is even more impressive considering her mother Judy was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer, more than a decade after surviving breast cancer,

"It was so emotional," says Thompson. "I went through so many things on the course at the beginning of the year, but to hear the news from my Mom that she was dealing with Cancer, it really puts it in perspective. Family is the most important thing in life, family comes first, I mean, she's my best friend."

"Judy fought breat cancer 12 years ago," recalls Pressel. "And it was shortly after my Mom passed away, so it always hits back home."

Pressel did everything she could to help give Lexi and her mother piece of mind, including helping to ensure Judy got immediate care.

"You don't know how much it's going to spread, where it's going to spread" reflects Thompson. "Then she made one call to Morgan and she got her in the very next day to the Boca Hospital. So it made a big difference, she was in there getting radiation treatment, and now she's cancer free."

"She's a strong family woman who would give anything for her children," says Pressel. "And we want to make it so cancer doesn't break apart families that way."
