Marlins triumphant in first game at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches

The Marlins hit the road for their spring training game Wednesday - but there was no three hour bus ride.

They all got in their personal Range Rovers, or Ferraris, or whatever it is they drive, and took the 10 minute drive south from Jupiter.

The Marlins played their first game at the Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach against the Houston Astros Wednesday.

This was the first time many of them had seen the complex.

Their home digs, Roger Dean Stadium, was built 20 years ago - and doesn't have some of the spiffy amenities the new park has, like the outdoor pools, the synthetic practice fields, and so on.

But the Marlins said, they still like their home complex, even though there's a shiny state of the art facility across town.

And the Marlins' bats seemed to like the new park - Miguel Rojas and Christian Yelich both homered in a 9-5 Miami win.
