Local players lock down their futures on early signing day
Signing Day has always been seen as a national holiday to college football fans.
Well instead the usual celebration on the first Wednesday in February, now fans get to enjoy it during the holiday season.
The first year that the NCAA has instituted an early signing period, Fall sports athletes can sign with their schools from now until the 22nd or wait until February.
Five Oxbridge Academy ThunderWolves signed Wednesday, including Jason McLeod to Penn, Keidron Smith to Ole Miss, Romello Tarver to Central Michigan, Herman McCray to Georgia State and V'Lique Carter to Pittsburgh. It was a special day for those young men and their families, who get an early holiday season gift by having their son's college decision final.
In Boca Raton, Dante Lang committed to the Gators before they parted ways with head coach Jim McElwain. He stayed true to that commitment Wednesday by inking with Florida. Lang is one of 12 players that new coach Dan Mullen signed in his first class in Gainesville, including highly rated QB Emory Jones out of Georgia
