Hoffmann challenges at Honda Classic after muscular dystrophy diagnosis

Morgan Hoffman

Jupiter Island resident Morgan Hoffmann shocked the golf world in December. He announced that he had been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy and the muscle mass in his upper body was slowly deteriorating. But the life-long golfer was not going to stop playing the sport he loves.

On Hoffmann's final hole of the day, a long putt for birdie put him in the clubhouse at 3 under par. A the time, he had the lead of the tournament. He wound up just one stroke behind leaders Alex Noren and Webb Simpson. Hoffmann has all missed cuts since his announcement, so he said after his round, this was a huge step for him.

Hoffman's highest finish of his career, was a 2nd place at the Honda Classic last year.
