Diamondbacks prospect Pavin Smith pays mortgage for family's Jupiter Home as a gift

Former Palm Beach Gardens baseball star Pavin Smith got his gift of a lifetime when he was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks this past June, after years of hard work. But the $5-million signing bonus that came along with it, helped him buy the biggest Christmas gift imaginable for the ones he says made it all possible.

A video, that's now gone viral, posted by Smith on Twitter shows just how much his childhood home, and the family that lives in it, truly means to the future Major League player. The video, which was posted on Christmas morning, shows his Mother and Father reading a note that reveals he's paid off the entire mortgage for his family's home.

"He's very loving and giving," says his mother Pamela with a smile. "I've obviously known that his whole life, but to have a gift like that, it was amazing."

"I was fine until I looked over and saw Pavin with tears streaming down his face," admits his father Tim. "And it just made me realize how much he wanted to do this, and how much love was in his heart."

"At first they were like you can't do this," reflects Pavin Smith. "You just can't do that, I mean that's just way to much of a gift, but I definitely insisted. You know, all of the financial burdens that come with helping me get to where I am today, I was great just to be able to pay them back just a little bit."

And it's the perfect way for Smith to express how much his family helped make him who he is today.

"He was really excited to see how excited everyone was," recalls his sisted Paige. "And that's just the way he is."

"Family is everything," adds Pavin. "Just being able to have those type of people to rely on, it's definitely just one of a kind."
