#AskShannon about post-partum depression. (WPEC)

Today's question comes from Michelle.

"I recently had a child a year ago. How do you know when you are in post-partum depression? It seems like the symptoms would be the same for how hard it is to be a new mom. Can you still be in it after a year?

Yes. One your brain chemistry changes it can be difficult to be get out of. One of the biggest symptoms is lack of bonding to your child, not wanting to be with your child, exhaustion, agitation, anxiety and if you begin to feel any thoughts of hurting you or your child go to the hospital immediately as that could be post-partum psychosis. Contact a therapist if you have many of these symptoms.
