#AskShannon about getting over the breakup
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
Today's question comes from Danielle.
"I was in a relationship that lasted six months and everything was perfect and suddenly, without warning he ended it. I have been devastated and can't get over it. Why does this seem so much harder to get over than other relationships that lasted longer?"
The honeymoon stage can last anywhere up to two years and then usually there's a power struggle. If your relationship ends in the honeymoon stage, it's going to feel extremely premature and can trigger abandonment, rejection and "not good enough" feelings.
Use this as an opportunity to heal those unresolved feelings from your past as this is probably just the catalyst for those old feelings.
Last but not least, there's nothing wrong with you. It's normal to really struggle when things end right in the middle of the good stuff.
