The 2017 FIRST South Florida Robotics Competition concludes this weekend at the Palm Beach County Convention Center.

It's a competition between 12,00 students on 48 teams from schools throughout Florida.

And when there's a meltdown or technical situation, FPL crews step in to help.

The robot doctors, teams of welders and machinists from the utility are on hand to help students make repairs to their creations.

FPL is sponsoring some of the teams. The experts are also serving as mentors and scouts for new talent. A number of robotics competitors have been hired to work as engineers with FPL.
