Storm shutters create fire rescue nightmare

Fire Rescue is now reminding South Floridans to take down storm shutters.

Crews says if there's an emergency, keeping storm shutters on a home could be the difference between getting to a victim in time and saving a life, or trapping the person inside.

In Palm Beach Gardens, first responders experienced first-hand how dangerous this can be. Firefighters responded to a house fire on Ravella Way, Tuesday. Before putting the fire out, they had to cut open the shutters to do so.

Crews explained, "As you can see, there's a lot of shutters up. Being able to gain access when shutters are placed on structures due to the storm", he continued, "We advise to get them off as quickly as you can because it delays response".

Fortunately no one was injured during that fire.
