PSL man accused of killing own father denied bond, murder weapon found police say
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) —
36-year-old Justino Cruz Jr. was denied bond Wednesday morning, and was appointed a public defender to represent him.
Cruz Jr. is charged with first degree murder in the stabbing death of his father.
Port St. Lucie Police say that Cruz Jr. stabbed his father to death, called 911, and then took off.
St. Lucie County Sheriff's Dive Team tell CBS12 they found the knife believed to have been used by Cruz Jr. in this crime.
It was found in the retention pond at The Club at St. Lucie West where Cruz lived.
According to the report, investigators found 65-year-old Justino Cruz on the floor of his apartment with multiple stab wounds.
Police searched the area using canines, but it was a concerned citizen that spotted Cruz Jr. near the Publix on CrossTown Parkway.
Cruz Jr was taken into custody without incident.
Cruz, Jr. will remain inside the St. Lucie county jail until his court date which has yet to be determined.
PSLPD is holding a news conference on an update to the investigation.
