The Palm Beach County Library System is partnering with the PBC School District in order to provide free lunches for kids during the 2017 summer.

The Board of County Commissioners approved the proposal for the partnership to serve nutritious lunches and snacks to kids at the seven library branches.

Officials say the Summer Food Service will be in locations where 50 percent or more of students qualify for free or reduced lunch during the academic year. These areas include:

  • Acreage Branch
  • Belle Glade Branch
  • Greenacres Branch
  • Jupiter Branch
  • Lantana Road Branch
  • Main Library
  • Wellington Branch

"The Summer Food Service Program ensures that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session," according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The service will be accessible to all kids up to age 18 and will be available from Tuesday, June 6 through Friday, July 28. Holidays and weekends will not be inlcuded.
