Manatee Lagoon offers free art classes for kids
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
Children who visit Manatee Lagoon can now take advantage of free art classes as part of the center’s celebration of oceanic art.
Artful Learning, now on Saturdays and Sundays, beginning Oct. 21 and Oct. 22, gives children ages 5 to 12 the opportunity to channel their inner Wyland to paint marine-inspired art.
Manatee Lagoon will also be home to the Lake Worth Lagoon photography exhibit through November, featuring the 13 finalists who will be featured in the annual Lake Worth Lagoon calendar, the center said.
The photo contest initiative is part of LagoonFest, an annual celebration that encourages the community to discover the marvels of Lake Worth Lagoon and the importance of protecting this urban estuary.
Manatee Lagoon will also debut a custom piece of art donated by local artists, Jon Allen and Johnny Ugowski of Statements 2000 studio, to highlight the center's mission to inspire communities to preserve and protect Florida’s environment and wildlife for future generations.
Visit the center's website for more information.
