Man threw homemade bomb at chickens in Fort Pierce: Sheriff
FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) —
A man in Fort Pierce is accused of making a homemade bomb and hurling it at a yard full of chickens.
The St. Lucie County Sheriff's Office arrested 55-year-old Scott Wegener.
A witness told police Wegener built an IED from a Canadian Mist bottle filled with black powder, sand and a green fuse. He ignited it and threw it in a backyard where the witness had some chickens, saying he wanted to kill them, according to the report.
Investigators found pieces of the plastic bottle containing remnants of sand and black powder in the yard. The witness gave detectives a bag that he said Wegener left behind. It contained a pound of Pyrodex FFg black powder, 8-feet of a hobby or cannon fuse and a coffee cup full of sand.
