Man accused of stealing Budweiser signs in St. Lucie County
ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) —
A man is accused of stealing two neon Budweiser signs in St. Lucie County.
The sheriff's office arrested 45-year-old Jamie Wescott on grand theft charges.
Investigators say Wescott, while working as a salesman for Southern Eagle Distribution, took the signs then resigned from his position and posted them for sale on Craigslist. The signs are worth $570 each.
Undercover detectives started talking with Westcott about buying the signs. According to the sheriff's office, he told one deputy, "You can have a police officer come with you if you feel more comfortable."
Wescott is at the St. Lucie County Jail, held on $18,000 bond. He's also facing a charge of dealing in stolen property.
