Man accused of playing 'tongue touch' game with 5-year-old boy
RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. (WPEC) - A 59-year-old man from Riviera Beach is facing child sex charges after a little boy told deputies the man played a "tongue touch" game with him in exchange for candy.
Deputies arrested Douglas Newby on charges of sexual battery on a child and simple battery.
The investigation began in March when a boy told deputies Newby had touched him inappropriately in his family's car. The boy said "Doug" kissed his tongue on several occasions, including on his birthday. The boy said "Doug" gave him candy and told him not to tell his parents and to keep it a secret. Authorities said the boy claimed "Doug" also touched his buttocks in the bathtub.
One witness told investigators she believed the tongue touching game happened approximately 12 times, according to the arrest report.
In a recorded conversation coordinated by the Sheriff's Office Child Protection Team, Newby admitted to a witness that he kissed the child's tongue and described it as "harmless and inappropriate," according to the arrest report. He denied touching the boy's buttocks.
Deputies arrested Newby last Friday. He remains in jail without bond.
