Gov. Scott has plans for Legislature
PARKLAND, Fla. (WPEC) - Governor Rick Scott (R) says he will bring a proposal to state lawmakers Friday morning.
That proposal will include some sort of measure to keep mentally unstable people from possessing a firearm.
He’s also likely to push for increased mental health support and resources for schools across the state.
During workshops this week, Scott seemed to support the recommendation of a single entry into schools.
What will likely be a harder sell for the GOP-dominated legislature is a ban on assault rifles, which students across the State are pushing for.
Once Scott releases his proposal, the lawmakers have two weeks to get something accomplished before the legislative session ends.
