Girl, 7, sexually abused by former sheriff dispatcher, wife: Sheriff
DELTONA, Fla. (CBS12) —
A man who worked as a dispatcher for the Volusia County Sheriff's Office and his wife are behind bars, accused of sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl.
The Sheriff's Office arrested 28-year-old Tyler Bush-Conn and his 27-year-old wife Talisha Tuesday morning.
A young girl in Alabama told authorities there she'd been sexually abused by Bush-Conn in Florida.
Investigators believe the sexual abuse began in 2016. The girl told investigators Mr. Bush-Conn had sex with her on multiple occasions and took naked pictures of her. Mrs. Bush-Conn is accused of being involved in at least one sexual encounter with the girl, investigators said.
Tyler Bush-Conn is facing a charge of sexual battery on a victim under the age of 12 and lewd or lascivious molestation.
Talisha Bush-Conn is facing a charge of being a principal to sexual battery on a victim under the age of 12, lewd or lascivious exhibition, child abuse and child neglect.
The couple who are separated could face more charges.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office hired Tyler Bush-Conn on March 17, 2014, and fired him on October 28, 2016. A spokesman for the sheriff's office told CBS12 Bush-Conn repeatedly missed work without giving an explanation or notification. His wife works for Volusia County in EVAC Emergency Medical Services.
The Department of Children and Families will take custody of the couple's two children.
