Elderly in Jupiter assisted-living facility call for help
JUPITER, Fla. (CBS 12) —
Residents at Courtyard Gardens in Jupiter are living in the dark, without power and air conditioning.
Some of them contacted our CBS12 newsroom for help.
The elderly assisted living facility is running on a generator, which only has enough juice to keep the hallway lights on.
It’s causing concerns for families in and out of town, because many people inside have Alzheimer’s and dementia.
A woman tells CBS12 her 90-year-old mother was found lethargic Wednesday morning due to possible heat exhaustion.
Word got out on social media, and since, people have been dropping off water bottles and battery-powered fans.
The city of Jupiter has notified FPL.
Sources tell CBS12 the city will make arrangements if they remain without power Thursday morning.
If you would like to donate, you can drop off supplies at 1790 Indian Creek Drive W, Jupiter FL 33458.
