Day care worker given bond on child abuse charges
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
Facing charges of child abuse, 31 year Amelia Jones dressed in the traditional jailhouse blue jumpsuit, stood in front of a Judge at the Palm Beach County Jail.
She was granted a $3,000 bond.
It was the second time in two weeks that Jones faced charges of child abuse.
According to the report, Boynton Beach Police say surveillance video last week from Lighthouse Academy Daycare shows Jones grabbing a 3 year old, shaking and lifting the child out of a high-chair, and causing her to fall on the floor. The video had no audio.
Police reported the incident to the Department of Children and Families.
A week earlier, a mother picked up her child from Lighthouse Academy and noticed bruises. Police say surveillance video captured Jones again, this time grabbing and pulling a child by the arm.
Lighthouse Academy is a highly ranked daycare and has since fired Jones.
The lawyer for Jones told CBS12, his client says she is not guilty and they are looking forward to proving it in the near future.
