Coast Guard suspends search for missing Delray Beach mother

The United States Coast Guard announced just before 9 p.m. Thursday that the search has been suspended for missing mother, 41-year-old Isabella Hellman, from Delray Beach.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Ms. Hellman in this difficult time," said Capt. Aldante Vinciguerra, chief of response for the Coast Guard Seventh District. "Suspending a search is never an easy call to make and was made with deep consideration in this tragic case."

The search began four days ago, Monday at 1:30 a.m., when the coast guard received a call from Hellman's husband, Lewis Bennett, who was recovered on a life raft just 30 miles west of Cay Sal, Bahamas.

Coast Guard crews have covered more than 6,680 square miles searching for Hellman.
