FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS12) - A Broward County Sheriff's Office deputy has been suspended in connection with TMZ leaked video of the Ft. Lauderdale Airport attack, according to CBS Miami.

Deputy Michael Dingman, 46, who is based at the Fort Lauderdale airport, was suspended with pay on Tuesday. He has been a Broward deputy for 21 years.

"Our investigation is moving forward. We are making progress and aggressively pursuing this case," said Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel. "Today, I suspended a deputy with pay in connection with this active investigation."

The full official document detailing Deputy Dingman's suspension can be seen here:

County Mayor Barbara Sharief says the suspect is in law enforcement and speaking for the whole county commission she says elected leaders are ashamed someone who wears a badge would try to capitalize on bloodshed.

"We feel as a community that that's just not representative of Broward County and how sorry we are and how bad we feel for their loss," Sharief said.

The mayor says as soon as the video of the airport shooting was published, investigators started digitally enhancing it-- and replaying it over and over to learn who was holding the cell phone up to the screen? The mayor says it had to be someone who could gain access into a restricted area control room.

There was a subtle reflection in the video -- a uniform came into focus. A law enforcement uniform.

"We are not at liberty at this time to say which agency it was but because it was a law enforcement agency, we felt the best person to investigate --to take it further was the FBI --so that's why we handed it over to the FBI and we requested that once they had completed the preliminary investigation that they would advise us where they were going with it," Sharief said, "We want to make sure people understand that when they have a security clearance of that level to view sensitive information that they hold that close to heart and they know what that means for the general public and for us."

The mayor says leaking the tape will be prosecuted as a federal crime.

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel released this statement:

Our investigation is moving forward. We are making progress and aggressively pursuing this case. Today, I suspended a deputy with pay in connection with this active investigation.
