Animal service officer saves dog from near-drowning
MARTIN COUNTY, Fla. (CBS 12) —
An animal control officer with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office came to the rescue of a dog who had slipped off a dock and could not get out of the St. Lucie River.
Brent Lavy answered the call after the owners of Dixie, a Doberman, were unable to save her.
The canine was able to swim, but was rapidly tiring after not being able to scale the seawall.
Lavy was able to grab the pooch from the water, and saved her life.
While tired, Dixie the dog only suffered a minor scrape.
