Police release man initially linked to Boynton store killing
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) —
A man initially arrested by police in connection with the shooting of a woman outside a store in Boynton Beach, is being released from jail.
Early Friday morning, police said officers arrested 30-year-old Branden Lamar Frederick on Thursday night.
But late Friday, police said they are dropping the charges and releasing him.
In a statement from police spokeswoman Stephanie Slater, detectives found "exculpatory evidence," and "out of an abundance of caution, Branden Lamar Frederick will not be charged with the April 5 murder of 26-year-old Curtisia Smith."
Roderick Taylor, 24, aka "Rat Mike" remains jailed in the shooting outside the Z Food Meat Market on April 5.
Investigators said surveillance video showed two men at the shooting scene.
The one man being sought by police is shown on video shooting Smith at point-blank range, according to detectives. Smith died last week from her injuries.
