Up to 200 tuba players will serenade the crowd with holiday classics outside Boston's cultural and historic heart tomorrow. It's the 30th year for the Boston Tuba Christmas. The tuba players will be outside the Faneuil (FAN'-yool) Hall Marketplace, where there's an 85-foot Christmas tree.
SOUTH FARMINGDALE, N.Y. (AP) -- The blimp that got away wasn't from Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. An advertising blimp had to make an unplanned landing on a field on New York's Long Island. Some bystanders were pressed into action as an impromptu ground crew. Newsday reports pilot Trevor Thompson took off yesterday morning to advertise a health-care training school, but worried about running out of fuel after flying into the wind. So, Thompson landed in a field at a school. Some people were using their phones to record the unusual landing. The pilot asked for help and two guys grabbed the blimp's nose line. Thompson says no one was hurt and the blimp is "100 percent fine."
CENTRAL PARK DRONE
NEW YORK (AP) -- New York's Central Park is a no drone zone. Police say a 41-year-old Russian tourist and his 14-year-old son were flying a drone in the park. The father was given a ticket after the flying gizmo was spotted on police cameras. Officers traced it to the two in Central Park during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade yesterday morning. Flying a drone in the city is illegal. The Russian man said he didn't know it was against the rules.
BOULDER, Colo. (AP) -- It seems Colorado freshmen aren't hitting the bong. The University of Colorado in Boulder says no freshmen are using a housing exemption for medical marijuana. The school requires freshmen to live on campus but will make exceptions for pot patients. Marijuana use is banned at the school, even though pot is legal in the state. The Daily Camera newspaper reports CU has issued has as many as 17 medical marijuana exemptions per year in the past.
