PANTIES SALE-ARREST

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Wanna buy some panties? Memphis police have busted a man suspected of selling stolen undies at a bus station. According to officers, 53-year-old Joe Milam was peddling panties swiped from Victoria's Secret. Officers tell the Commercial Appeal some of the unmentionables still had price tags and anti-theft devices attached. Police say the panty peddler tried putting up a fight. Officers say he had 59 pairs of panties. He now faces theft and other charges.

PLAZA HOTEL-BIKE RACK

NEW YORK (AP) -- It's the swanky Plaza hotel versus New York's bike share program. Lawyers for the Plaza have gone to court with their claim the area across the street is no place for a large bike rack. The Plaza wants the Citi Bike rack removed from the landmark Grand Army Plaza and fountain. The Plaza says the 147-foot-long bike station is an "eyesore" and creates traffic jams. But lawyers for the city say the bike rack is in an ideal spot, across from Central Park.

NYC WATERFRONT-POOL

NEW YORK (AP) -- Take a dip in the East River? Backers of the floating Plus Pool say they're serious about the idea. The plan calls for an Olympic-sized pool with cruise-ship like decking. It would be anchored off Brooklyn. The designers say their floating pool would be made from a material that filters river water to make it safe for swimming. Project co-founder Archie Coates says the goal is to "change the way New Yorkers see the river by giving them a chance to swim in it." The design still has to be approved by a host of agencies, from the city to the Coast Guard. The pool boosters say it could be ready for swimming as soon as 2016.

JAIL TOILETS-HOOKS

OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) -- It's jailhouse fishing. And you might be surprised at what's being caught. Authorities at a western Kentucky jail are using fish hooks in the toilet pipes. The idea is to stop inmates at the Daviess (DAY'-vees) County Detention Center from clogging up the plumbing. Prisoners try flushing everything from jeans to blankets. Jailer David Osborne says the fish hooks allow jail workers to pull out the foreign objects. Osborne tells a local paper (Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer) he guesses the prisoners flush for fun because they're bored.
