El Dorado Furniture celebrates 50 years of service to the community
WELLINGTON, Fl. (CBS12)-- El Dorado Furniture is a family-owned company of 14 furniture stores based in South Florida. The company is recognized as the largest Hispanic-owned furniture retail enterprise in the United States and ranked amongst the top 50 furniture retailers in the country. Throughout the past 50 years, the family leading by example has been dedicated to serving and giving back to deserving families in the community. In this week’s Extraordinary People, we spotlight their commitment to making a difference in the lives of hearts and homes.
Elke Oerter is a Sales Leader. She says the owners and dedicated El Dorado team is proud of their efforts one of their projects that helps invest in children called Amigo’s for Kids . They also partner throughout the year with numerous Florida charities to help those who need it most. Participating in various community service projects throughout the next year.
The company is grateful for the freedom to be able to provide jobs and security to so many families.
"To meet the families and see it firsthand, is a humbling experience. It puts your life in perspective and reminds you to be grateful for what you have. You see other people that have so little and still they're so happy. They are so grateful for so little and when a company is giving so much and allows it's staff the opportunity to be a part of it, it's beautiful."
Shawnda Roberts was one of the recipients of home furnishings during their 45 Years/45 Families Community Relations project. She served 12 years and three tours in the military.
"I recently returned home from Afghanistan and I went to the Urban League because I always like to give back and do community service. And one day, I get a knock at the door, I open it and its El Dorado. They told me Congratulations you have the opportunity for the 45th recipient to received a donation of furniture. The best was that I actually was able to go and pick it out myself at the store. I was just so so excited when they came and actually delivered it. That is when it hit me and I cried. I said God thank you so much. I want to say thank you to El Dorado for continuing to bless families and South Florida."
"When you get if you have that you are in your heart. It remains you know that you made a difference you see the bright eyes and you see the joy and excitement. When you are giving that's what stays with you and that's what makes a big difference."
El Dorado is planning and preparing for their upcoming anniversary 50 Years/50 Families Community Relations Campaign to continue their service to the community. This year's anniversary celebration took place with the company's Board of Directors, executives and more than 200 employees, at El Dorado Furniture's Corporate Office. Their mission is to ensure that the 50th year anniversary celebration is honored all year around.
