Consumer Alerts: Cars on the road could have unfixed safety recall
Nationwide, as many as one in four cars on the roads has an unfixed safety recall. Why that number is so high?
On the Carfax app, numerous cars are found with unfixed recalls.
Of those vehicles, the ones with the highest likelihood of having an unfixed recall are family-oriented vehicles--minivans and SUVs.
Nearly 25 percent of vehicles have recalls but according to Chris Basso, from Carfax, recalls shouldn’t be ignored.
"People need to look at them as a good thing," he says. "Recalls are done to help keep the vehicles safe. The manufacturer has identified a defect and wants to fix your vehicle for free."
Safety experts say it is well worth the inconvenience to have it fixed considering what is on the line.
