Why is it every time I need help with my cable... Comcast's toll free number never helps me?  Here's an example:

When I first arrived here in South Florida... I opened and account with Comcast for cable at my house.  They told me... for signing up with them... they would give me a $300 VISA gift card after 6 weeks of service.  It's now been 5 months, and still no card.  I have called Comcast 16-times to try and resolve the issue and they still haven't sent the card and when a supervisor was supposed to call me back... they never did.  I feel like I've been scammed.
Maybe it's time to get my work involved now at CBS 12.  Okay done venting... Good Talk!

Who Should Pay?

Interesting story tonight on CBS 12 News at 11.  A local family outraged... and confused... after an OFF DUTY P-B-S-O sergeant sideswipes their daughter's car during a pursuit - causing thousands of dollars in damage.  And now the P-B-S-O says they won't pay for the damages.  That's ridiculous!  If you hit someone's car you should be held responsible - especially if you're LAW ENFORCEMENT!  Although this off duty sergeant apprehended a possible drunk driver, he still ended up hitting an innocent victims car.  PSBO should step up, accept responsibility for what they did and fix the car for this woman.  Would it have mattered if the sergeant wasn't off duty?  If he had his lights blaring would it still be okay to hit and innocent car and get away with it?  What if there was a shootout with a suspect in front of your home, and the cops riddled your house with bullets?  Are they on the hook to fix the damage from shots fired?  Or are you stuck with the bill of fixing up the house?  Give me your thoughts on this?

Super Bowl 47

I'm amazed at just how much Super Bowl Sunday has changed over the years.  When I was growing up... it was cool to watch the super bowl with your family.  Now it seems like everyone has a party, a cook out... some even go out and buy a new TV for the EVENT, because that's what it has become an EVENT.  Look baseball may be america's past time, but there is no question the machine known as the NFL runs this country's sports team.  Ask anyone who goes to a holiday party or even a family get together like thanksgiving.  It doesn't even matter if your team is playing that day or not... if there is an NFL game on TV people will still watch.  I love the NFL.  I love Super Bowl  Sunday... but it wouldn't shock me in the next 10-years if they actually make the day AFTER the super bowl a holiday because retailers have noticed the day after the big game is one of the lowest revenue days of the year!

Rape Victims being charged with a crime?

Okay this one sent me overboard!  A republican lawmaker has proposed a bill that would consider abortions in cases of rape as "tampering with evidence."  Representative Cathrynn Brown introduced the bill today.  It would charge a rape victim who ended her pregnancy with a third-degree felony for tampering with evidence. 

Now the bill is unlikely to pass in both chambers of New Mexico's state legislature... but still... to charge a rape victim with a crime?  Really?  Cathrynn... have your head examined!  Don't you think the victim has gone through enough?  I've heard of some dumb law proposals before... but this one just might be the worst one yet! 
Unbelievable!  This one sends me into orbit!  You would think lawmakers would focus on much better issues than this!

The Flu

Let's face it... no one likes to get sick - especially with the FLU.

The CDC just released it's latest numbers for the deadly flu outbreak that's affecting the entire country.  Right now 47-states are getting slammed - including right here in Florida.  In addition, two more children have died this past week from flu-associated illnesses, bringing this seasons total to 20.
The problems lies with the strain of flu.  A strain, called H3N2...

Officials say there may be a shortage of flu vaccines in some areas of the country.

Doctors are recommending that if you start to see flu-like symptoms, including cough, fever and fatigue, you should start to take anti-virals immediately, and not wait for a positive test to come back.

So what can you do to protect those that you care about... both young and old?  Gives us your sugggestions...
